Ms. Alvey's Extreme Classroom Makeover

So far we have received 15 of the 22 covers requested to protect the iPods.  Please keep the donations coming.  If you would rather purchase something else for the classroom related to the iPods then iTunes Gift Cards would be great also.  I have been looking at lots of podcasts over the summer and since school started and not all of them are free.  This would be another great way to off set some of the costs.  I will be using the iTunes cards to purchase educational items and apps to be used on the touches.

Attention All Parents,

I am launching an Adopt An iPod Program for room 309.  This program is to ensure that current and future students at Gresham Middle School will be able to use this amazing piece of technology.  I am trying to raise enough money to purchase 22 iPod Touch protective covers.  If you would be interested in adopting a Touch please let me know.  Your name will be placed on the back of the protective cover so that ever student will know who helped fund their iPod Touch cover(s). I know that I wasn’t at school today because of a workshop but I want to know how much you enjoyed the introduction to the Touches.  Tell me something new that you learned today.  In your opinion, how could I use the iPods in the science classroom?

Friday we played a game called How Well Do You Know Mrs. Alvey?  What did you all think of using the Expressions?  How could we use them more in class?

Today many of you experimented with the ActivBoard and taking attendance for yourself.  What did you think about using the Activ Board?  Was it easy to use?  What other activities do you think we could use the ActivBoard for in the Science classroom?

I know that many of your are excited about this upcoming school year, so I want to hear from you.  Tell me what you think of the new room.  What piece of equipment do you think you are going to enjoy the most and why?

Today is going to be another exciting day in my amazing classroom. Today I am going to introduce the rest of my 134 sixth grade students to my extreme classroom makeover. I’m sure that this is going to be another amazing educational experience where I can view the possibilities of the coming year based on their reactions to this high tech room. I’m sure they are going to love what they see and use today!!!

Today’s reveal was amazing! The students really seemed to enjoy all the new pieces of technology in my new room. I can’t wait for all of my students to see it tomorrow at the ice cream social!!!!

Today is THE DAY—the big reveal! I am so excited and so nervous at the same time. I think that everyone is going to be amazed and very excited about what the future holds for this classroom and the students within it.

I spent most of the day today working with someone from Promethean-he showed me how to use the ActivExpressions and the Slate.  You all are going to love the Active Expressions.  They look like a cell phone and they enable you to text in your answers to various questions.  I can’t wait to use them in my classroom.
