Congratulations Mr. Sutton and Green Magnet
I can’t believe it has been a year since I found out about winning ORAU’s Classroom Makeover. I could not be more excited for Mr. Sutton and Green Magnet. (Click here for his video and article) I know his mind must be racing about how to use the money. Last year, Mrs. Alvey’s class gave comments about their favorite technology and I used that list as a starting point. Below is my students’ vote on their favorite technology of the year.
7 Hours in 2 Minutes
Take a look at 7 hours in 2 minutes. This is a time lapse of a day in our class. I didn’t record when the students left for special areas or lunch. In the video you will see my math class work on the lessons they will be teaching to each other, students recording their history plays, our reading block, study hall, students working on their science research projects, and our technology buddies (Mr. Murray’s 2nd grade class) creating their grammar music CDs.

Hello St. Simons, Georgia
We finally got to Skype!! On Thursday, we connected with a class from Frederica Academy in St Simons Island, GA. We talked with Mrs. Howell’s class about our school, community, and how our school is going green. Even though we are in different states, we had a lot in common. Both classes enjoy using technology, putting on plays, and practicing “going green” in their schools.
Earth Day
Stop Motion
During TCAP test week, the students are not allowed to do anything educational. To help pass the time after the tests, the students made their own stop motion films. They are going to be making longer ones with their technology buddies, Mr. Murray’s second grade class, in May so this was great practice. Take a look at Sydney’s movie below.

Time to Exercise
The students got a health dose of exercise last week during the health fair. Local vendors and gyms stationed centers around the school and the students had to complete each one. Take a look at the video Sydney and Parker made highlighting some of the events.

Vote for Mrs. Fultz!!
One of my favorite teachers is one of the finalist for the ORAU $25,000 prize. Could you imagine winning that much money just for your classroom. It would be insane!!! This year ORAU is giving “the people” a vote to reward one of the 11 finalist a $1,000. I am very glad I entered last year because the videos are amazing. Check them out and VOTE FOR MRS. FULTZ!!!!!! Or the video you think is best or MRS. FULTZ!!!!

World Connections
Over the school year, my class has become friends with an amazing class from the Philippines. Last week, we received letters and a Valentine card from them. Even though they are over 8,000 miles away, my students have made some pretty close friends. The craziest thing is we are doing it all “old-school” with paper and pencils. Don’t let the lack of technology stop you from making connections with the world!!
